Shrimp Crash

Shrimp should be cheap.

Shrimp Crash puts hobbyist Neocaridina shrimp breeders next to people nearby who want shrimp, in the United States. The breeders have too many, and they give them away, trade them, or sell them for a dollar at most. Looking and getting in touch need no account. We built it for a breeder in Tampa, Florida, who runs it.

The grading chart hobbyists know by heart, as Shrimp Crash draws it. Each colour has its own page, with what breeders ask today and who has it. Crystal red and crystal black are Caridina, so they sit outside the one-dollar cap.

A dollar, tops.

Everyone who lists takes one pledge: never sell a Neocaridina for more than a dollar. Culls go free. Nobody polices it by hand: the server checks it.

Two ways in.

If you're looking, you come in without an account. If you have too many, you sign up once and list.

Looking
By city or zip code, filtered by colour and by deal: free, cheap or trade. Results come by distance, and each breeder says how to reach them.
Listing
You sign in with Google or with a link by email. You take the dollar pledge, and each account can hold up to five listings, with photos.
Trades
A board for swapping tanks, filters, plants and shrimp without money changing hands.
The hand-off
What the site recommends: meet somewhere public, bring a cup of your own tank water, drip-acclimate for about 30 minutes, and never pay before you see the shrimp.

Useful before anyone lists.

A new directory starts out empty. So the site answers questions on its own: what each colour is, what people really ask for it, and what water comes out of the tap in your city.
